Another successful project has been delivered over a very wet few months, without too much hassle. Thankfully without that many leaks or inconveniences to the hall users too. This was despite the annoyingly late start caused by a delay from the local Planning Authority, over which they have apologised.
The contractors Finchampstead Roofing led by Kelvin Thomas and his sons has been completed very competently and now should last us all for a good many years to come.
Included in the work was the complete replacement of the old ‘felt and chipping’ roof covering. We now have above our heads a modern rubberoid roof liner with a much longer warranty. We have also replaced the old fibreglass roof lights with see through, obscure, toughened plastic domes. They are secured with lockable roof bolts for added security. Hopefully
you will all now notice a great deal more light being shed within the entrance to the hall and the vestibules for both WC areas. A huge thanks goes to everyone involved, especially Anne Mohan our Churchwarden and to Julie and Beccy for sorting the finances out for us all. Plus of course anyone that has donated specifically to get this work to fruition above and beyond regular giving.
The next project will probably be the internal re-decoration to the Hall and adjoining rooms, but please be patient with us as to when we have the energy and people power to deliver that one!
If anyone is willing to get involved with the re-decoration works to the hall, please drop Mike Thackray an e-mail and he’ll try to co-ordinate that project, possibly for the summer holidays next year or the year after.
