Ways of giving

Sharing time, talents and money in God's service

As members of the Church here in Crowthorne we all have our part to play, both spiritual and practical, to sustain our Church family and to be a resource for the village of Crowthorne. We share our time, talents and money in God’s service.

Please consider, after a time for thought and prayer to ask for God’s guidance to make the right decision:-

Becoming a voting member of the church-----sign and return an electoral roll application.

This will enable you to vote for your representative on any of the synodical councils of the Church---the Parochial Church Council, the Deanery Synod, the Diocesan Synod, and the General Synod. You could stand for election to any of these bodies yourself to influence decision making for every aspect of church life.   Click here if you would like to complete an Electoral Roll Application Form.

Sharing your time and talents---------------------contact the vicar, churchwardens or an activity organiser to get involved.  Check out the website . Do you have a particular skill or interest that you might offer? Full-time commitment is not necessary, even a little extra help occasionally can make all the difference.  All Church activities need more support and input.    Click here to see a list of time and talents suggestions. Becoming a planned giver--------------------------complete a standing order form for your bank or building society

It is important to give regularly and faithfully for the church to receive consistent income throughout the year. In the Old Testament a provision was made of a tithe of one tenth of income as a thanksgiving for God’s continued blessing of his people. The Church of England encourages its members to give 5% to their church and 5% to other causes such as mission and charities.   Click here to see a flowchart of different ways to give to the Church, or click here to open a Standing Order Form.

Becoming a tax efficient giver---------------------complete a Gift Aid Declaration form.

Gift Aid is the method in which the Government helps charities and churches by refunding the tax paid on money given to them. This means that for every £10 the church gets an extra £2.50, at no extra cost to the giver, by reclaiming the tax. You must have paid sufficient tax (on income or investment) to cover your donation.   Click here to open a list of answers to common Gift Aid questions. For many people these are very difficult times but hopefully you will feel able to respond favourably.  It will be exciting to see what a difference your contribution makes to St John’s Church and its mission.

Thank you.
