The Missions we support

At St John’s we have a Missions Committee with representatives for seven Missions:

Church Army, Church Mission Society, Leprosy Mission, Embrace the Middle East, Corrymeela, Bible Society, HopeZone (a local charity for young people under the umbrella of Churches Together in Crowthorne). Each receive a proportion of the 12.5% of our parish planned giving. Additionally, we support the Children’s Society and the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice with occasional collections. We aim to have preachers from all these organisations on a rolling two year programme.

We have an annual Lent lunch and a Christmas Giving Tree when we raise money for either a particular appeal from one of the above missions or as in the case of this year’s Giving Tree – refugees from Afghanistan via the Reading Refugee Support Group.
